Keating reveals that Brother is a markedly different album to anything the group has done before. “It’s incredibly different. There are no ballads on there at all, it is very much an adult pop record, big Coldplay, U2 style songs. There are no cover versions, they are all brand new studio tracks. Stephen horror

Stephen made his feature film debut in a low budget independent horror movie called Credo which is released on DVD on 25th May 2009. Stephen’s character, Simon, appears in the 11 minute prologue on this extended version of the movie and there is also a DVD ‘extra’ of an interview with Stephen. You can now preorder the film direct from the filmmakers at http://www.credothemovie.com and receive a free set of Credo postcards with your order.

There is also a competition on Stephen’s site where you can win signed DVD’s, posters and postcards. Closing date 20th May 2009.

Stephen meets the tigers!

Stephen visited London Zoo today to help conservation charity 21st Century Tiger to raise awareness of the threat of extinction for wild tigers.

“As a big animal lover I am really pleased to be able to help raise awareness of the terrible plight of tigers facing extinction by promoting 21st Century Tiger. They give 100% of all donations received to wild tiger conservation projects and so please get involved and support the work they do.”

Better video features gay couple

The boyz have become the first boyband to feature a gay couple in their video.

Stephen teams up with a male actor for the scenes in the video for the next single, “Better”.

The rest of the lads are paired with girls but Stephen wanted things to be different and honest.

He told BBC Newsbeat “For me, it’s just me being me and I don’t think there should be a real big issue about the whole thing anyway.I just think it’s just a beautiful video and I think it works superbly for the song”

The original plan was to have their own partners in the video but they eventually decided on actors for the parts.The decision to include a gay couple in the video was one that the whole band agreed with.

Stephen said: “I came out in 1999 and it was a big issue at the time and I don’t think I could have done this video without having a guy in the video.

“I think it’s important for me to be true to myself.

“The lads were saying, ‘You’ve got to do this’. They were pushing saying, ‘This would be fantastic’. It’s the first of its kind. That’s why I went for it.”

Electric proms Saturday Night Fever

Tonight the BBC go back to the era of disco for a special gathering from the Roundhouse to mark the 30th anniversary of Saturday Night Fever topping the charts in the UK. Bee Gee Robin Gibb performs alongside a star-studded cast, including Ronan and Stephen, Sam Sparro, Sharleen Spiteri and Gabriella Cilmi, accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra. Anne Dudley, the Academy Award-winning composer and arranger, is the show’s musical director.

19:30pm – BBC Radio 2.

23:20pm – BBC 2 – TV

Hang up the glitter ball and get out your disco shoes!!
