Ronan jetting round the world

Ronan returned to the UK for two amazing gigs this weekend. Friday night saw him at Haigh and Hall Country Park for the finale of the Wigan Life Tuned In concert season which has seen The Saturdays, Katherine Jenkins and McFly perform.

Crowds turned up in their thousands to watch Ronan wrap up the festivities.  In what was possibly the biggest crowd-puller of the week, he pulled out all stops and really enjoyed himself.

Then on Sunday Ronan was in Henley to perform in front of a suited and booted audience to mark the end of the Henley Festival 2010 where the likes of Will Young, Bryn Terfel and Nigel Kennedy had also performed.

Now he’s back in Australia to continue with his X Factor judging and we’ve got a sneaky peak of the first official photo of Ronan with his fellow judges.

Review: Ronan Keating at the Liverpool Empire

When Ronan Keating appeared on stage at the Liverpool Empire, the sell-out crowd went wild.

The screams from hundreds of teenage Boyzone fanatics – now fully grown women – were deafening as the Irish crooner took to the stage with some fresh songs from his latest solo album.

boyz go down a storm at Big Gig

7,000 people packed the Royal Bath & West Showground site, near Shepton Mallet, on Saturday including fans who had poured in to watch the boyz.

Local businessman Kevin Newton was inspired to stage the Big Gig after hearing a local radio DJ playing the boyz hit “When the Going Gets Tough” as he drove past the showground. He said: “I realised the going had indeed got tough and that everyone needed some cheer in these difficult times.”

With a funfair, food stalls, trade stands and other entertainment Big-goers were encouraged to make the entertainment a family day out and Mr Newton says the spectacular could become an annual event.

“It has gone really, really well” he said. “Boyzone went down a storm. People had huge smiles on their faces when they were leaving. They did a full set, with dancers and special effects”.

Brian May loves boyzone Queen medley

The legendary Queen guitarist went to the O2 to see boyzone and watched the whole show from the mixing desk. The boyz and the band were understandably nervous performing their Queen medley in front of Brian, but they needn’t have worried… he loved it!

….the show itself is huge … great production (especially their astounding flying stunt near the end) and all-round high quality … and … well, yes, the piece de resistance is their Queen medley … which must last 10 minutes … this is no quick nod. I had seen a version on Youtube, but the live experience is a whole different level. It’s brilliantly done … all the lads donning Freddie outfits and doing choreographed routines which deftly mirror Freddie’s (unchoreographed and instinctive) mannerisms. It’s a work of art … the band behind them handle it all expertly, and as the songs segue into each other, the Freddie costumes change to reflect the period of the song … the yellow Wembley Jacket, the white Live Aid T-shirt … even Freddie’s notorious crown and cloak (5 of each!) … It’s witty and clever … and a great compliment – we were totally entertained. And it has to be said that there were a few daring top notes from Stephen Gately which would have brought a broad smile to Freddie’s lips. Full on!

Great reviews for Birmingham shows

The boyz went down a storm in Birmingham and are really enjoying their visit, here’s what some other people thought:

Birmingham mail -  “They may no longer be boys but they still know how to please the crowd”.

And from the Glasgow shows:

Evening Times – “There might be another man-band at Hampden this weekend but Boyzone’s slick show, snazzy set and improved vocals left the crowd asking, ‘Take who?’”
