New album cover revealed

Here’s the cover for the new boyzone album, “Brother”, which is due for release on 8th March.
In December 2009 Keith, Mikey, Ronan and Shane were still grieving and making some very tough decisions about what the future should be for them as a band, not least whether this album should ever see the light of day. They agreed that the best thing that they could do to pay tribute to Stephen was to pick themselves up and get the show back on the road. So they headed back to the studio and finished the album, knowing in their hearts that it was the right thing to do.
They treasured the vocals that Stephen had recorded, making the experience in the studio a hard and troubling time, but one which only served to bring the group even closer together.

I love the new album cover, its beautiful.
Just because Steo isn’t there, doesn’t mean he isn’t there in spirit. I am sure Keith, Mikey, Shane and Ronan had to think long and hard about the cover, and I admire them for their final choice.
I am sure we will Steo in the album artwork somewhere. We will never forget Steo and neither will the Boyz. Xx

I love it, it’s beautiful. It really must have been hard for the boyz to do but I think Steo was in the room with them in spirit. He’d be proud of this cover and proud of the boyz.

the general idea of the cover is nice. But seeing no reference for Stephen at all is heartbreaking. I’d much prefer to see you guys sitting at a table with one empty chair than seeing no place for Steo at all. Or maybe you could put an old black and white picture of Stephen in the middle of the cover. Don’t you see a possibility of including him in any way? Please think about it.

The cover is fabulous! Hope the album will be released in the Netherlands aswell. Otherwise I have to order it in the UK! It must have been very hard to finish this album without the ‘missing Boy”. You’ve done very well and it is a dedication to Steo. I think he’s watching over you Boyz.

I have just seen the cover to the new album and I know that it must have been so hard and heartbreaking to decide what to place on the cover and I think it is great you have chosen this cover and it’s 1 that stephen would have been proud of.

Initially I was very pleased to read of the title chosen for the album, but now have a feeling of complete and utter disbelief with the publication of the album’s front cover. An album completed in tribute to Stephen, and, as I understand it three tracks contain Stephen’s vocals, yet his photo does not appear on the front cover.
Very sadly this is the last Boyzone album of new material containing Stephen’s vocals, but his photo is not shown on the front cover.
Stephen was very excited about completing and releasing this album. Surely it would not have hurt to include him in the album cover for one last time.
The group photo featured in the video for “Gave It All Away” (mentioned as a favourite of Stephen’s) could have been considered much more appropriate, or another group photo taken during 2008/9 surely!
Mickey on today’s “This Morning” programme said the album was dedicated 100% to Stephen and contained his best vocals.
I can not comprehend the boyz approving, of what I can only describe as an appalling front cover.
I very much suggest the Stephen Gately Fans website forum is checked out so both the boyz and the Record Company can see what impact this album cover is having on both Stephen Gately and Boyzone fans.
Stephen always cared about his fans, now its his fans turn to care about this injustice.

The album is called brother – presumably -Stephen. Yet he appears to be missing from the picture. Its slightly inappropriate that he’s not there!!

i still cant bring my self to watch the new song and video i watch a few seconds then have to switch it of , it is heart breaking and somthing i will never forget or get over , love all you boys but loved steo more , may good luck and happiness be with you in the futre xxxxx
i have 2 opinions about the cover as there are diferent ways to look at it , it is a lovely cover and in reality it is true , its the 4 remaining boyz that look realy sad hurt and emotional feeling the loss of there brother , so all true and realy lovely , but also i think with it being a remberence album for steo i think maybe a picture of him should of gone in the centre of you 4 guys , and maybe with rip details xxxxx steo would be so proud and love what you are doing and have done for him , god bless you all xx

I follow Boyzone since end of 1994 and became a great fan of Stephen (meet him a lot of times). I am sorry, but I don’t like the new cover without Stephen, make me so sad. You four Ronan, Keith, Mickey and Shane looks well, but at last Stephen does also singing in the new album and I think it would be great that a picture of him appears on the cover.

i think the cover is beautiful!! i dont believe there has been some sort of injustice 2 Stephen as has previously been mentioned. Whatever we are feeling as stephen/boyzone fans the boyz are feeling a million times worse!! if you ask me the faces on the front cover say it all… and the word BROTHER clearly shows that Stephen IS on the front cover! to be honest we should all be thankful that the boyz went back in to the studio to finish the album and release it so we can hear stephens last vocals, i cnt imagine how difficult that must have been. Im sure the inside of the album will be a complete dedication 2 Steo. No matter what the boyz would have chosen there would be people who wouldnt be happy with it. i will continue to support the boyz through everything xx
aw boyz i’m so sorry i have to agree with many other comments on here, i am absolutely thrilled you are releasing the album,i have preordered it etc, but i can’t believe stephen isn’t on the cover. the colours are too brash, and i just don’t think, in view of all the sadness surrounding the release of the album, it is a very tasteful album cover. something more subdued, softer and featuring stephen would, in my opinion, be so much better. But i can see that it is better to celebrate bis life than to be morbid, and i am truly grateful to you all for going ahead with the album release. can’t wait to hear it, and love ‘gave it all away’. xxx
I love the cover and its a very nice tribute to Stephen! We should be supporting Boyzone through this and be proud of them!! Whatever the lads decided and do, i’ll support them all the way through, just dont be so unrespectful!! Stephen is on there by the way, also he’ll be inside the Album, in the booklet. Just remember what some of you say, think before posting because what if the boys reads all this? I know you all have opinions but not like the way you sad it. Anyway i love the album, its very special and hope it goes to No.1, and the single! xxx

I love the cover boyz, and for fans that are upset Stephen is not on the front, I’m sure a picture of him is included elsewhere in the album artwork. Steve will never be forgotten by any of the fans, all we have to do is look back at the footage we have, and listen to the music and he is there. We will all support you boyz, however you move on from here. Much love from Cork, Ireland.

I am 100% behind the boyz on this. The album is called ‘Brother’ and brother obviously IS Stephen.
Maybe it might have been difficult for them to look at an album cover of a time when Stephen was alive? A time when everything was normal and everyone was happy?
As fans, we loved Stephen and we miss him, but he was a real person in their lives, a person they could call, a person they could hug and kiss and talk to. And he’s gone. And they’re still trying to cope with that day by day and will continue to for a long time. Also what about the Gately family and Andrew? I’m sure they were consulted about any decision and have given their blessings. Surely they are the ones who’s opinions matter the most? / matter at all?? To even suggest that these 4 boyz would do anything disrespectful to Stephen’s memory is just appalling, uncalled for and desperately unfair.
it’s a beautiful title for the album clearly showing the rollercoaster of emotions that has gone into it and the and a beautiful cover of the lads clearly showing that steven is very much in their hearts and thoughts everyday, but i just really wish steo was on it aswell! but i know the boys wud have thought long and hard as the best way to dedicate this album, and well they knew him best! it’s just so difficult to see a boyzone album without my favourite member on the front, but i know them 4 boyz will find it even harder!! boyz i love and support u, always have and always will x x
I can’t understand why Stephen’s photo isn’t shown on the front cover. Steo left a couple of songs in the album, he should be on the front cover. If someone listen to the new single “Gave it all away” and love the song,he should know the beautiful vocal is from lovely Steo.
I must buy the album no matter whether steo is on the cover or not, because Steo left three tracks to all fans.I’m sorry but I won’t support Boyzone anymore after the new album if they don’t change the front cover.

The boyz over these past dreadfully sad months have shown great sensitivity and caring. How they now could get things so incredibly wrong, by not including Stephen’s photo on the album front cover, where his photo should rightfully be, one last time, beggars belief!

I really think you should take some time and think about what your doing! You are breaking the hearts of all Stephen Gately fans again.
You won’t upset the Ronan, Shane, Mikey or Keith fans. But you will upset all the Stephen fans, who have been going through hell during the last couple of months. ;(
I think with this cover you will lose a lot of fans.
Please, please, please, please, please add Stephen to the cover.
It’s really sad to see, because Stephen was so excited about the new album. Some people might say “but he only sings 3 songs” but he was so much more involved in that. He choose the songs as well and his last text message to Ronan also mentions the new songs.
I would also like to suggest that you may put the full version of Gave it all away that Stephen recorded on his own on either the new album or new single as a bonustrack.
PLEASE CHANGE THE COVER!!! Do it for Stephen!

Oh God here come the tears again!! Love the cover! It is sad and strange not seeing Stephen on the cover but I think the guys made the right choice. The photos are beautiful and tasteful. Stephen would be very proud!!

I am really shocked and feel very sad about the album cover.
It is meant as a tribute to Stephen, so there is no doubt he should be on the cover as well.
This album is the last chance for Boyzone to appreciate Stephen, without him being on the cover it looks like they have forgotten about him already.
It’s a slap in the face to everyone who loved Stephen, I wonder what Andrew and his family are thinking? Surely they are shocked by this as well.
Stephen was a very special person and he touched so many people’s hearts, it’s just not fair to exclude him from the cover.

I’m sorry but I have to comment again. PLEASE PLEASE STOP CRITICISING THE BOYZ. I cant bear it. If you are fans of Stephen please consider what STEPHEN would want. These people were his best friends and brothers in life. IN REAL LIFE. THEY KNEW HIM. NOT JUST AS A PERSON ON STAGE OR A PERSON IN MAGAZINES, OR A PERSON YOU OCASIONALLY MEET AND GREET. THEY KNEW HIM. AND THEY LOVED HIM. I don’t know the exact reasons why they chose this cover but I do know that IT WAS NOT TO EXCLUDE STEPHEN IN ANY WAY. This is the worst experience they have had in their lives. And there is no way in the world Stephen would want any of his fans to make it more difficult for them.
What makes me the most sad is not that the Boyz have used a cover without Stephen on. Its reading through some of these truly selfish comments that have been made by some of Stephen’s biggest fans. I’m sure if he was alive to read them he would be ashamed of some of you.
Those that say they won’t but the album because he is not on the cover – Your choice but, how very childish. You need to grow up!
The album has been finished by the remaining 4 members of the group (something that they have done for us) and they have dedicated it to Stephen. That doesn’t mean its meant to be a “morbid memorial” collectors piece. Its a new album of new songs to be enjoyed by all. They are trying to move on in the best way they can under the circumstances. He was their friend, and brother and will never be forgotten. The Boyz obviously have their own reasons for not using an old photo of him on the front cover please just respect their wishes.
Well, I like it. I think its extremely respectful to Stephen even though he is not pictured, the look on Ronan, Shane, Mikey & Keiths faces say all that needs to be said – its obvious to me exactly what they are thinking about.
