The legendary Queen guitarist went to the O2 to see boyzone and watched the whole show from the mixing desk. The boyz and the band were understandably nervous performing their Queen medley in front of Brian, but they needn’t have worried… he loved it!

….the show itself is huge … great production (especially their astounding flying stunt near the end) and all-round high quality … and … well, yes, the piece de resistance is their Queen medley … which must last 10 minutes … this is no quick nod. I had seen a version on Youtube, but the live experience is a whole different level. It’s brilliantly done … all the lads donning Freddie outfits and doing choreographed routines which deftly mirror Freddie’s (unchoreographed and instinctive) mannerisms. It’s a work of art … the band behind them handle it all expertly, and as the songs segue into each other, the Freddie costumes change to reflect the period of the song … the yellow Wembley Jacket, the white Live Aid T-shirt … even Freddie’s notorious crown and cloak (5 of each!) … It’s witty and clever … and a great compliment – we were totally entertained. And it has to be said that there were a few daring top notes from Stephen Gately which would have brought a broad smile to Freddie’s lips. Full on!

Mikey was posting for the first time on twitter last night when the shocking news of Michael Jackson’s death was announced. This is what he had to say:

“I was on twitter last night, when I heard the news that Michael Jackson had died. What a tragic loss to the world of music and another legend no longer with us. No doubt there will be speculation and rumour surrounding his life and death, but no-one can deny that he was a huge influence on popular music. Only last year we performed our own tribute on the boyzone tour and putting that together made us realise the huge contribution that he made and how iconic he had become. RIP King of Pop”

The boyz had an amazing last night at the O2 Arena yesterday and the band had an extra surprise in store for them as for the slow number, “Baby Can I Hold You”, their usual glamorous dancers were replaced by some hairy males dressed up in leopard skin tights and blond wigs, whose identity still remains a closely guarded secret.
The band had no idea this was going to happen but ever the professional performers they managed to hold it together and carry on singing through their laughter.

The moment I got into the NIA I saw the poster for the competition and entered straight away. I entered once and my Mom entered once on her phone for me. I have been a fan since I was about 10 and I am now 23. I have entered every competition going over the years and have never won. Before the show I remember going I would love to meet Ronan but I never will. I have met Shane and Stephen before.
